Happy Halloween!! I was listening to my favorite podcast and he said something that really sums up the season we are now in, The Holiday Season, "they're for kids" or as the old saying goes: "tricks are for kids". Without the imagination and the innocence of their excitement what would a holiday be? I guess I'm having these "deep thoughts" because my youngest is now.. not over it.. oh no, even my 22-year-old still dresses up, but it just gave me a segway into whatever else I'm going to write about.
This month I went on an amazing retreat/workshop for Pilates down in Santa Barbara, it was all just time well spent. One of the many things that I walked away with was, "wait for Pilates to happen in the body." I remember dreading adagio in ballet class, I had one ballet teacher who made hers like molasses in January (which now that I live in this climate, I fully understand). But it's in those slower movements that the movement actually intertwines with our mind, body, muscles and understanding. I am not saying we need to slow down our movements always but when I'm seeing Pilates missing in your body, I might have to tell you slow down. You don't want to miss out on your Pilates during your Pilates practice. In Sandy Shimoda book, "Contrology Handbook A Guide to Joe Pilates' Method," she sums this up by saying, These "exercises make [you] use muscles [you] didn't even know [you] had and awaken new sensations in your body." "Once you peel away one layer, there is always another beneath it." If you scheduled yourself on these dates, I will be taking you off the schedule. If I charge your account, I will extend your expiration date for Christmas and New Year, if you pay for your package on your own, let me know so I can pull out your expiration date.

Mat Class
We are wrapping up the month of working on Pilates with just our bodies, no props! It's during these months that you are able to feel the missing places you need for your own strength. In the month of November, we will be using the Thera-Band which is similar to the springs. Think feet in straps or any time we are pulling the ropes with our arms. There will be no Mat Class week of Thanksgiving, please schedule your Privates on the 24th and 25th. Sign up for class here!

Beginning Workshop coming in the New Year! Joining a Pilates workshop takes the "what are they doing??" Out of randomly joining a Mat Class. It's also really good to join on to get back into Pilates. This slow-paced class will go over the Pilates fundamentals, to learn body placement, muscle engagement, breath and exercise names. More details to come.

Extra Pilates Practice on the OPVL
Have you noticed that the more Pilates you do, the better you feel in your body? Quite honestly, even if I take 10 minutes to do some Pilates, I always feel better and on the OPVL you can have just that. Classes are categorized into levels which make it easy for you to find a video, scroll through and find the length of time you can dedicate and press play! The Quick 10- minute videos are for all levels. I started this online platform because past and current clients wanted more Pilates from me. That makes me gush and blush! So, when you are doing the video, I literally am doing the video with you..fun fact, I didn't want to have to edit any videos, so if I messed up, I redid it to make it flow nicely.
